Music for Chameleons
March 3rd through April 9th, 2016
Music for Chameleons is a project that merges painting and design, Brendan Smith and Henry Barrett's personal practices. Smith and Barrett experimented with aerospace and automotive materials including Corafoam, UV reactive and luminous liquid plastics and rubbers. The result is a process based study in the materiality of painting and its relation to contextual issues of design. Existing as both furniture and fine art objects, the work playfully shifts between various identities and expectations.
Brendan Smith received his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and MFA from Yale School of Art. Recent shows include a three person show at Koki Arts in Tokyo, a group show at Denny Gallery in New York, and a solo show at Five Eleven in New York.
Henry Barrett received his B. Arch. from Cooper Union and is a practicing architect.
